Verulamium Park

The park is 160 acres of beautiful parkland, with plenty of open space to play. There is a large children’s play area and family friendly café open all year round, and a toddler splash park to cool off on warm summer days (2014 opening dates 5th May to 14th September). The London 2012 Olympic Legacy is clear to see with a beach volleyball court and the adiZone outdoor multi-gym facility, suitable for all ages.

Butterfly World

Set amongst 27 acres, visitors can wonder at hundreds of butterflies in the Tropical Butterfly House, visit the insect study centre with regular Insect Handling Sessions, and Ant World with colonies of leaf cutter ants. Outside, enjoy outstanding designer gardens, the Chrysalis Lake, a large natural play area and beautiful wild-flower meadows. Free car parking. Nectar House Café and shop on site. St Albans Cathedral

The Cathedral dominates the city’s skyline from every approach. Its architecture is a blend of many different periods, and its great tower includes Roman bricks salvaged from the ruins of Verulamium. It is best known for the shrine of St Alban, Britain’s first Christian Saint, which continues to attract pilgrims from far and wide.

Verulamium Museum

Award-winning museum, displaying beautiful objects from the Roman City of Verulamium, featuring superb mosaics and re-created Roman rooms giving the visitor an opportunity to discover the life and times of a major Roman city. Legion XIIII, a re-enactment group, occupies the galleries on the second weekend of each month explaining the tactics and equipment of the Roman army.

Willows Farm Village

Willows Farm Village offers a wonderful family day out with a fun packed programme of farmyard animals adventure play, fun fair rides, children’s shows, falconry displays and tractor rides. They have plenty of indoor adventure soft play too.

Westminster Lodge

At Westminster Lodge, toddlers can explore the water-confidence area, with slides and other fun equipment. Older children can try the youth gym, or the challenge of the climbing walls. There’s also the swimming pools and sports hall, catering for a variety of sports.
